In 2005, for every one digital-only journalist, there were 20 newspaper journalists. In 2015, for every one digital-only journalist, there were four newspaper journalists.

In 2005, there were 69,900 journalists employed in these two industries. In 2015, there were 51,980, a decline of 26 percent. As a result, Americans have fewer journalists to provide news information.

A  YouTube with very compelling evidence that Hillary Clinton could control Lester Holt with a finger to her face signal was seen world-wide via YouTube until it was removed by YouTube citing a copyright claim. The tape showed in very clear fashion how a finger signal from Clinton would yield a move by Holt to bring her into the conversation where she would deliver a pre-scripted “zinger.” A contrary opinion is also provided below.

Further to the Phi Beta Iota comments on the mistaken limitation of OSINT to passive monitoring of web sites and such….

Prevalent approaches to countering ‘radicalisation’ ineffective, conceptually flawed

“A lack of research based on primary sources has been one of the major impediments to progress in the field of (counter-) terrorism studies… As numerous leading experts have warned, the consequences of an overreliance on secondary sources of information, such as newspapers, has led to a great amount of theorising based on a perilously small empirical foundation.”

CNN Exposed – Emmy Winning Former CNN Journalist Blows The Whistle: CNN is paid by foreign and domestic Government agencies for specific content

A courageous investigative journalist, Amber Lyon, shows foreign governments and the US government pays CNN  “for reporting on some events, and not reporting on others.  The Obama Administration pays CNN for content control.”

“Back in March 2011, CNN sent a four person team to Bahrain to cover the Arab Spring. Once there, the crew was the subject of extreme intimidation amongst other things, but they were able to record some fantastic footage. As Glenn Greenwald of the UK’s Guardian writes in his blockbuster article from September 4th 2012:

In the segment, Lyon interviewed activists as they explicitly described their torture at the hands of government forces, while family members recounted their relatives’ abrupt disappearances. She spoke with government officials justifying the imprisonment of activists. And the segment featured harrowing video footage of regime forces shooting unarmed demonstrators, along with the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. In sum, the early 2011 CNN segment on Bahrain presented one of the starkest reports to date of the brutal repression embraced by the US-backed regime. Despite these accolades, and despite the dangers their own journalists and their sources endured to produce it, CNN International (CNNi) never broadcast the documentary. Even in the face of numerous inquiries and complaints from their own employees inside CNN, it continued to refuse to broadcast the program or even provide any explanation for the decision. To date, this documentary has never aired on CNNi. Having just returned from Bahrain, Lyon says she “saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldn’t  believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.

When Amber Lyon recognized the extent of the reasoning, she challenged CNN. CNN told her to be quiet, and began to view her as a risk. She knew, and found out, too much. Amber is now trying to tell the story, the real story, of what is going on behind the closed doors of US Media entities. Amber has created her own website, and additionally as noted in the Guardian Article she is trying to share the truth of the deceptions.

A New Vision for IR Schools in the Platformed World

Key points:

Whole way in which information and society are organized has changed. From stovepipes to networks — growing power of audience and authentity. This is a threat to the whole Westphalian order of nations (i.e. top-down “because we say so” hierarchical authority). State-owned media now setting the new standard for message delivery while the Western media is collapsing for lack of viability of the advertising – print – broadcast models. Western media is spending too much time on minutia of single events and not enough time on framing, context, and meaning.

“It is time for schools to come down from the ivory tower…and start engaging with the public, doing news analysis, data dives, informing the public [in ways  that] the media cannot.   . . .   This is an opportunity as well as a responsibility.”

Faded Rose: Eric Zuesse on American Samizdat – US Media Treason

Corruption, Media

faded roseAmerican Samizdat – Publication Forbidden in the US (I)

Eric ZUESSE | 21.07.2016 | Strategic Culture

The entire press that hires ‘reporters’ in America is involved in hiding instead of reporting the really important news, the news that implicates the news media themselves in a selective system-wide operation of news-suppression, alongside their selective system-wide operation of ‘news’-reporting: reported ‘news’ that’s stripped of the real news – stripped of the crucial facts that enable the public to understand public affairs.

American Samizdat – Publication Forbidden in the US (II)

Eric ZUESSE | 22.07.2016 | Strategic Culture

I think the reason why the essential truths are not reported to the public isn’t that journalists and their editors don’t know those facts but instead that the owners would fire and blackball any reporters and editors and producers who enabled the public to know those facts – it’s simply forbidden, though there’s no published rule forbidding it.
