The article on Vanity Fair titled Facebook Is Reportedly Building a Censorship Tool to Win Over China suggests that the people nervous about what it will mean to address the fake news proliferation are correct. The fear that Facebook managing fake news stories might lead to actual censorship of the news is not so far-fetched after all.   . . .   Zuckerberg’s interest in capturing China’s 700M+ internet users has led to the creation of a censorship tool that can “automatically suppress content in specific geographic areas.”

If humanity survives the rise of artificial intelligence, the ravages of climate change and the threat of nuclear terrorism in the next century, it doesn't mean we're home free, according to Stephen Hawking. The renowned theoretical physicist has gone as far as providing humanity with a deadline for finding another planet to colonize: We have 1,000 years. Remaining on Earth any longer, Hawking believes, places humanity at great risk of encountering another mass extinction.

Subject: Three Big Problems, Three Big Solutions

You face three big problems right now, all of which need to be addressed right now.

01 It is highly likely that a future round of leaked emails will include compelling evidence of how the RNC and DNC have co-conspired over the years, to include the RNC asking the DNC to shut down the Iran-Contra investigation being led by Senator John Kerry. We are going to face the same public anger that the DNC drew from the Sandernistas, but from a larger spectrum of the public seeing new evidence of betrayal by what is now commonly known as “the two-party tyranny.”

02 The “Purple Revolution” is going to get much much uglier. The genie is out of the box, the next big leap is going to see a coalition of the Sandernistas and everyone on the alternative right that is going to be convinced that you have sold them out to the “Swamp People,” along with the increasingly desperate unemployed. Apart from protests funded and organized by George Soros and others, I anticipate false flag “whites only” hate grafitti and perhaps even the shooting of a few young protesters, all to be blamed on Trump supporters.

What I learned from visualizing Hillary Clinton’s emails

Political systems scale poorly. The most influential actors in them are spending a substantial fraction of their mental capacity thinking about how to communicate, and do not have the bandwidth needed to deal with many incoming messages. This is not surprising considering the large number of people they interact with. Our modern political world is one where a few need to interact with many, so they have no time for deep relationships — they physically cannot. So what we are left is with a world of first impressions and public opinion, where the choice of words matters enormously, and becomes central to the job. Yet, the chronic lack of time that comes from having a system where few people govern many.
