Want to save several billion dollars, increase market share with innovation, and not be stupid in the IT arena?  The answer is simple: do not buy other software companies (go all in on Open Source Everything); and if you must buy something, consult Stephen E. Arnold, CEO of Arnold IT, first.  HP is a potentially great company, but it seems out of touch with reality and unable to do its homework.  They are not alone — Microsoft after Ozzie, Oracle, Yahoo, Facebook, all mired in old think.  The arrogance of insularity is quite stunning, across all fronts.

Global Shadow Banking Monitoring Report 2012

45 pages, PDF

The “shadow banking system” can broadly be described as “credit intermediation involving entities and activities outside the regular banking system”. Although intermediating credit through non-bank channels can have advantages, such channels can also become a source of systemic risk, especially when they are structured to perform bank-like functions (e.g. maturity transformation and leverage) and when their interconnectedness with the regular banking system is strong. Therefore, appropriate monitoring and regulatory frameworks for the shadow banking system needs to be in place to mitigate the build-up of risks.

Eagle: Rolling Jubilee — Occupy Buying and Forgiving Debt at 4% — 96% Discount!!!

300 Million Talons…

The Rolling Jubilee is just getting started and so far it has raised over $6 Million, which will be used to wipe out medical debt for random Americans. Cutting debt while helping those in need, now there's something everyone can agree on.

For more information and to donate, visit http://rollingjubilee.org

Phi Beta Iota:  What we find utterly fascinating here is the discount rate on personal debt in the USA:  4%.  They have bought and dismissed $6 million in debt for a cost of $304,850.  4% — at a time when most Americans are being hounded by debt collectors, and nothing is being done to help the average person.  How hard would it be for the President to sponsor a Jubilee Bill at this rate — instead of trillions for the banks, a billion or less, at 4% [96% leverage] wipes out all individual and small business debt in the USA.  A big idea.  Mr. President?

In financial ecosystems, big banks trample economic habitats and spread fiscal disease

Lead author and Princeton mathematical epidemiologist Nimalan Arinaminpathy explained that the paper represents part of an effort to examine how tumult such as the 2007-08 global financial crisis can spread throughout a banking system. Prior to the crisis, regulators typically judged banks on their individual health rather than their potential threat to the overall network, he said.

“In terms of regulation, there was really very little attention to how the financial system worked as a whole,” said Arinaminpathy, who is a postdoctoral research associate in Princeton's Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

Phi Beta Iota:  Here is the executive summary — none of this has been validated from other sources, but what keeps coming back to us, in relation to both who the US Government does business with and who major commanders socialize with, is ZERO counter-intelligence.  We have no clue.  Amateur hour continues.

01  The Lebanese sisters are part of the Khawam family that fronted for Saadaam Hussein in assigning contracts where 50% came back to him.  The family name is allegedly feared still in Iraq.

02  The twin married Washington insider Grayson Wolfe, founding partner of Akkadian Private Ventures LLC and affiliate companies.

03  They work in all the CENTCOM hotspots and many of their contracts can be traced to Petraeus / Allen command periods.

04  Grayson himself was Iraqi Reconstruction and Special Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of the Export-Import Bank of the USA, appointed by President Bush.  He also served in 2004 as Manager of the Private Sector Development Office of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad.

Make no mistake — the PSC industry in Afghanistan is enormously powerful, having grown from nothing to immense in a decade of war that the invaders wanted to wage with as few uniformed troops as possible. As in Iraq, they are linked to a privatized model of military and development contracting in a highly insecure post-invasion environment.

Huffington Post, Nov. 13, 2012

While it’s only one among many factors bedeviling Afghanistan, its substantial private-security contracting industry warrants attention. It’s made up of tens of thousands of Afghan employees, mostly armed guards.

Bear in mind that 2014 is the deadline for Afghanistan assuming responsibility for its own security. This is a date the whole world has an interest in because either Afghanistan will be a more or less stable country — or it will lapse back into the chaotic and destabilized state it was after the Soviets left in 1989.

We all recall how that turned out.

Wall Street's Plan to Push Obama to Betray Those Who Elected Him

Through its lobbying group Third Way and media mouthpieces, Wall Street is determined to destroy the social safety net.

The safety net is the glory of America and the unending nightmare of Wall Street. That's why Wall Street’s leading “false flag” group, the Third Way (which calls itself a “leading moderate think tank”), has responded to the warnings that Robert Kuttner, AFL-CIO President Trumka, and I have made that if President Obama is re-elected our immediate task will be to prevent the Great Betrayal – the adoption of self-destructive austerity programs and the opening wedge of the effort to unravel the safety net (including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid).

Here's what you need to know about this plan to rob Americans of their future.

Phi Beta Iota:  A clever well-informed President intent on making the most of his last four years would–unless he aspires to being a Wall Street shill after retirement from the White House–be putting The Chicago Plan Revisited front and center along with the Automated Payment Transaction Tax.  Wall Street–and Peter Peterson and David Walker in particular–needs to shut up and disappear into its box while ethical adults (hard to find, we know) sort this out.  What we can say with certainty is that both Congress and the White House are betraying the public trust as this time by not being clever or well-informed — they continue to focus on doing the wrong things righter instead of the right thing.
