Business Intelligence: A Functional Barrier

Walls.

I see him there,
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me,
Not of woods only and the shade of trees. (Robert Frost, Mending Wall)

In late 2014, O1Business published a short item that provides more back up for the apparent slow down in some business intelligence markets. You can find that original article at http://bit.ly/1aAgA27. My take on the 01Business story by Marie Jung appeared in December 2013 at http://bit.ly/19VUqH9.

People who are truly knowledgeable about IT are appalled about what the NSA is doing and, as this report shows, they are speaking out.

Open Letter From Top U.S. Computer Security Experts Slams NSA Spying As Destroying Security
WashingtonsBlog

The NSA Is Making Us All Less Safe

An open letter today from a large group of professors – top US computer security and cryptography researchers – slams the damage to ecurity caused by NSA spying:

Inserting backdoors, sabotaging standards, and tapping commercial data-center links provide bad actors, foreign and domestic, opportunities to exploit the resulting vulnerabilities.

The value of society-wide surveillance in preventing terrorism is unclear, but the threat that such surveillance poses to privacy, democracy, and the US technology sector is readily apparent.

Exposed: Sandy Hook shooter’s biggest threat still lives

Adam Lanza, the purported Sandy Hook School shooter, is the subject of an ongoing investigation in Connecticut. No, it’s not a police probe, it’s about “mental health.”

The investigation is all about Lanza’s medical history, what diagnoses were made, who the doctors were, what psychiatric drugs they prescribed Lanza.

The Governor of Connecticut is ultimately in charge, in order to make recommendations about improving “mental health” in the state and preventing future violent tragedies.

But the inquiry has stalled. And stalled.

If you thought special interest money in the last election was a problem you haven't seen anything yet. Thanks to Citizens United the Koch brothers and their Rightwing friends are determined to spend what it takes to put their servants into office. This is so obvious one would think that the Supreme Court would realize the dreadful mistake they made. However, I don't think they see it as a mistake. The corruption of American democracy was what they intend! ed.

Owl: Citizens Begin Rousting Police Using Police Questions

Who? Who?

First Perturbations of Resistance to the Encroaching Police State?

This short Youtube video shows some cop cars nearby a club at night, and the cops in the cars are apparently monitoring those entering or emerging from the club, all of whom are peaceful and causing no trouble. Some men decide to approach the cop cars and issue the kinds of threatening questions innocent motorists stopped by the police routinely receive, “Is there anything illegal you in your vehicle, can I search your vehicle?”, etc. After a short time of this treatment, the cops leave. Some of the comments on this video urge watchers of it to spread the word and organize similar types of such incidents against other cops. This make me wonder: is this incident an early warning signal of mass citizen resistance to government-corporate tyranny? If this kind of action catches on, it may well be.
