Alarms about the alleged Russian threat only re-emerged in the neocon dominated media and think tanks when old fashioned nationalist Vladimir Putin took office and made it a principal goal of his government to turn off the money tap.
For those unfamiliar with the practice of “doxxing,” Stuff has shared a clear introduction on the topic peppered with links to more information—“What is Doxxing, and Why Is It So Scary?” Reporter Jasmine McNealy describes the technique of discovering personal information available online and using it against one’s target. She also emphasizes how dangerous these attacks can be. McNealy writes:

Short Honk: Does Amazon Have Facebook Data?
I read “Facebook Gave Device Makers Deep Access to Data on Users and Friends.” The write up mentions Amazon as a company given “access to vast amounts of its users’ personal information.” So the answer appears to be “Yes.” I assume that the NYT report is “real” news. What can Amazon do with that data? Check out the Amazon analysis in this week’s DarkCyber.

I discussed this article with Bill Binney and we agree that is is at best misleading. In my view The Intercept is betraying the public trust by failing to recognize that Barack Obama and John Brennan led a combination of interagency witchhunt and “spygate” against Donald Trump's campaign, at the same time that they fabricated the entire story about Russian collusion with Trump and Russian “hacking” of the US election. DID NOT HAPPEN.

Fake News May Be a Forever Feature
According to the story:
For $13, a Buzzfeed reporter was able to buy the longstanding Facebook profile of a fake 23 year old British woman living in London with 921 friends and a deep, plausible dossier of activities, likes and messages. The reporter’s contact said they could supply 5,000 more Facebook identities at any time.”
