The most important lesson is that the CIA is ready and willing to doctor its own reports in order to make them suit the foreign policy agenda of an administration. Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Trebor Scholz, Associate Professor for Culture & Media at the New School and author of the book Uber-Worked and Underpaid: How Workers Are Disrupting the Digital Economy (Polity, 2016). He is currently touring European cities to talk about platform cooperativism.
