This is literally a sickening story, a cautionary tale of what happens when corporate interests trump national wellness and this is affirmed by all the branches of the government. It is no longer possible to take it as a given that food in an American supermarket is safe to eat. Here is the proof of that. There needs to be a citizen outcry about this, and it should be a major issue in the 2! 014 elections.

As an especially vicious salmonella outbreak sickens hundreds across the country, U.S. Department of Agriculture regulators have declined to crack down on the poultry processing plants that spread the pathogen. On Monday, the USDA threatened to close the California-based Foster Farms facilities, but decided to keep the plant open under scrutiny on Thursday night after Foster Farms submitted a plan for ‘immediate substantive changes to their slaughter and processing to allow for continued operations.”

The outbreak has sickened at least 300 people in 17 states, and 42 percent of the victims have been hospitalized – twice the normal hospitalization rate for salmonella. Yet neither state nor federal regulators have issued a recall order, stating the chicken is safe if fully cooked.

Uncertainty on figures hampering food security efforts

More than 600 scientists gathered in the Netherlands for a global food security conference, described as the first of its kind.

Organisers said science could help end uncertainty surrounding efforts to meet the food needs of future generations.

They added that, until now, there were many policy debates on food security but there was no scientific forum for researchers to share knowledge.

The next food security conference will be held in the US in 2015.

“A really key message from the conference for us is that we have got lots of estimates about needs of population growth etc, but at the moment we are so uncertain of the exact numbers – the uncertainty is really very high,” said conference co-chairman Ken Giller, professor of plant production systems at Wageningen University.

“We talk about the current population being seven billion, moving to 9.2 billion in 2050 and the estimate is that we need to increase production 70% or more.

“But there are many different ways of addressing that. If we don't know what the problem is then we can't get started in addressing them.”

This is a truly Satanic combination. The Southweb article sums it up best:

“While they may not be owned by the same individuals, one thing is clear: the relationship between these two companies is enough cause for alarm.”

So Monsanto has not bought Blackwater, but is leveraging them against its opponents, and one can only imagine what Blackwater might offer to do in Africa, where murder by mob is done every day with impunity, led by CIA with its drones. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation connection is highlights in the 3 August piece, they are known for their eugenics agenda that is not well covered by the mainstream media.

The truth of the matter is that Academi (Blackwater) was purchased by private investors, and the heavily sourced article written by Jeremy Scahill in The Nation actually says nothing about Monsanto buying Blackwater.

What the articles does say, however, is that Monsanto and Blackwater are indeed working together to target anti-Monsanto activists and organizations.

Yemen’s Food & Water Crisis

Yesterday I saw an article that indicated Yemen’s capitol, Sana’a, could be out of water in a decade. There were some shocking statistics in that article and in the ReliefWeb article that provided the above map.

40% of Yemen’s water is used to cultivate qat, which is labeled as a narcotic, but it’s effect is similar to that of milder amphetamines. Fully 75% of all Yemeni men use this drug, which is both legal in the eyes of the government and accepted under the laws of Islam. The drug is commonly used there, as well as in Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia.
