Margin of Victory is a hugely important book that should be required reading in all of the war colleges, as well as all national security programs in political science and international relations courses across the country.

In sailboat racing the race is often won or lost before the boat ever hits the water. If the hull is not perfectly formed; perfectly painted; and perfectly clean before it gears up, then the boat starts with an automatic embedded penalty factor – it goes slower. What the author has done with this book is demonstrate that wars are won or lost 10-20 years before they are fought, based on whether the nation-state devises an effective grand strategy and properly develops a balanced approach to organization, technology and human capital, with human capital being most important.

An email recently obtained by Judicial Watch shows that the Pentagon was demanding Hillary allow them to send help to Benghazi during the 2012 attack. This would completely contradict the claim from Hillary and Leon Panetta that no forces were available and within reach to provide help to the compound that was under siege.

EUROPOL recommends Member States to increase their OSINT capacity to monitor social media and the use of technologies by terrorists

According to the last Internet Organised Crime Threat Assessment (IOCTA) recently published by EUROPOL – the European Union’s law enforcement agency – there is an increasing convergence between cybercrime and terrorism. Indeed, “Terrorists are becoming increasingly proficient in hiding their traces and activities by using anonymising and encryption tools and services » such as Tor available on the cybercrime market. Another trend highlighted by EUROPOL is the increasing use social media platforms by terrorist groups “to engage in recruitment campaigns, propaganda, incitement of terror acts and for claiming responsibility for attack”. In order to address these challenges, the EU law enforcement agency recommends Member States to “increase their OSINT capacity in order to monitor the development of new technologies that have potential for abuse by terrorists and which have already been adopted, and to proactively monitor social media to detect early patterns of radicalisation”.
