Sen. Bernie SandersBernie Sanders is at the single most significant turning point in his life. Against all odds (greater odds than those faced by Donald Trump) he has mobilized a generation and restored some semblance of social and economic justice to the Democratic Party's notional position.

It is virtually certain that Hillary Clinton will be indicted before the convention, opening the path for Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren to emerge as the “sensible” alternatives to what many see as two impossible choices. Donald Trump — still our favorite for pure disruption reasons — has begun to self-destruct — if he does not get a professional policy staff that can address all threats and all policies with evidence-based decision-support in the context of a balanced budget, America will be voting for “least idiot” rather  than “best president.”

Manufactured Terrorism: Uncle Sam's Support for Terrorism Laid Bare

…the fact that the Obama administration has been consorting with terrorist allies of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, and other countries has received little to no coverage in the American media.

From My Palantir Archive: Security

With Socom embracing Palantir for maybe three years, my question is, “Does Palantir have safeguards in place which will make a third Buzzfeed type article a low probability or 0.000001 event? Yikes, two articles based on what may be leaked internal information. What happens if sensitive military information goes walkabout?

A new type of urbanization is needed. One that reflects a different type of development, also known as the New Normal which is currently gaining widespread support throughout China. The New Normal understands the substantial changes affecting China (namely a decline in the availability of inexpensive land and cheap labour, slower economic growth and, above all, increasingly exacerbating environmental distresses) and responds by promoting a new kind of people-centred development that favours slower economic growth, people well-being, innovation, domestic market development and that is particularly devoted to environmental protection and sustainability.

Stewart Brand's Whole Earth Catalog, the book that changed the world

Stewart Brand was at the heart of 60s counterculture and is now widely revered as the tech visionary whose book anticipated the web. We meet the man for whom big ideas are a way of life

“We are as gods and might as well get good at it,” wrote Brand on the title page of the Whole Earth Catalog. Up until now, he noted, power has been in the hands of “government, big business, formal education, church”. But now “a realm of intimate, personal power is developing – power of the individual to conduct his own education, find his own inspiration, shape his own environment and share his adventure with whoever is interested. Tools that aid this process are sought and promoted by the Whole Earth Catalog.”

9/11 – The Evidence For Insider Trading

After 9/11, there were indications that traders with inside information had benefited financially from the terrorist attacks. The list was long and included traders in the US, Germany, Japan, France Luxembourg, the UK, Switzerland, Spain, and even Hong Kong. Ernst Welteke, President of the German Deutsche Bundesbank, told the Miami Herald that “a preliminary review by German regulators and bank researchers showed there were highly suspicious sales of shares in airlines and insurance companies, along with major trades in gold and oil markets, before September 11 that suggest … advance knowledge of the attacks. Welteke said that his researchers came across … almost irrefutable proof of insider trading.” Welteke himself was emphatic: “If you look at the movements in markets before and after the attacks, it really makes your brow furrow..”
