The Purism Librem 15 is the first high-end laptop in the world that ships without mystery software in the kernel, operating system, or any software applications. Every other consumer-grade laptop you can purchase comes with an operating system that includes suspect, proprietary software, and there’s no way for you to know what that software does. The reality is that unless every aspect of your kernel, operating system, and software applications are free/libre and open source, there is no way to know that your computer is truly working in your best interest. Purism is the first to solve this problem. Read more.
I know very few doctors who are genuinely happy with the state of medicine in the U.S., and there is no question that we have notably inferior healthcare. The illness profit system is incredibly lucrative for its corporate owners. Absolutely top of the line in terms of profit. In terms of health, not so much. We pay more than any other country in the world for what outcome data shows is the 37th best healthcare.

Unless the president faces up to the real threat, the plans to retake Mosul don’t have a chance.

We, as a nation, must accept and face the reality that we and other contributing nations of the world are at war, and not just in Iraq. We are in a global war with a radical and violent form of the Islamic religion, and it is irresponsible and dangerous to deny it. This enemy is far broader than the 40,000 or so fighters in the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. There also exists a large segment of this radical version of Islam in over 90 nations abroad as well as here at home. Just ask those countries from which foreign fighters are flowing into the Levant to support this “jihad.”
On the first day of the negotiations in Minsk a bill to “provide lethal weapons to the Government of Ukraine in order to defend itself against Russian-backed rebel separatists in eastern Ukraine” was introduced in the US Congress. Its sponsor, Sen. James Inhofe, understands that Kiev will inevitably violate the cease-fire and that Washington will soon have to explain why the militias in the devastated region are in possession of such a vast number of captured weapons originating from NATO countries. Senator Inhofe’s bill is not about rendering military assistance to the government in Kiev, but is rather a way to legitimize the shipments that are already being sent. Only the most aged, decrepit weapons are ending up in the region – Ukrainian officials are re-exporting everything that is worthy of resale to third countries, including Syria. No one can guarantee that the weapons that will pass to Ukraine legally will not soon be used against America’s interests in global hot spots. It seems that this threat is the last thing on the minds of US senators. Learn more.
