I think this is an excellent essay on the state of voting and voters in the election coming up. I find political ads offensive, ads in general come to that and mute the sound, maybe you do the same. But I have come to realize the truth in John Cassidy's essay. Some very significant fraction of Americans has just tuned out or, perversely, just votes a party ticket without understanding the truth about the candidates or the issues. That is the only explanation I can see for the continuing voting that occurs in Red value states, even though the policies they are voting for are horribly damaging to their lives. This also explains I think how people like Louie Gohmert or Steve King, or Ted Cruz remain in office.

Phi Beta Iota: There is no doubt at all that the crimes against humanity by the Western powers vastly exceed the combination of false flag terrorism and insurgent violence mis-labeled as terrorism.  Terrorism is a tactic long-used, to include by the USA against the British and by Israel against the British and now against Palestine. The good news is that the elite are now breaking ranks, as the more intelligent among them (inherited wealth tends to have a dumbing down effect but there are some *very* intelligent and ethical “black sheep” as well as a few, such as Lady Rothschilds and the Mars Family, that “get it” from a practical sustainability of wealth point of view).

Did you notice as well? The paucity of coverage about the climate change rallies on the major cable and broadcast channels. Occasional mentions, but nothing sustained. You could see it on the Weather Channel, but not MSNBC. I have been really struck by this. As well as the lack of discussion about what has happened. Here is one of the best accounts of the experience I have seen.

For starters, there's all that other terrifying stuff competing for attention: President Barack Obama's war with ISIS; the Ebola outbreak, which recently put Sierra Leone on national lockdown; Ukraine; Scotland; wife-beating athletes. That scary guy in Pennsylvania.

The world seems like a pretty big mess right now.

The climate? Not top of the agenda.

Atheists have It Wrong on Religious Causes of Terrorism and Suicide Bombing

This article dispels all illusions based on the belief that terrorism done by Muslim extremists is to be blamed on their religion, a view much favored by well-known atheist critics of religion such as Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris.

One of the implied back stories to this insightful article is that big-time atheist writers such as Harris and Christopher Hitchens (who is not mentioned), in blaming religion on terrorism perpetuated by Muslims and others, also happen to favor policies that perpetuate mass killing by larger western governments of large number of civilians in countries where Muslims live. That observation alone is worthy of an article all by itself.

MG(R) Scales, a former Commandant of the Army War College, is nothing if not a controversial character.  I don't necessarily disagree with his assertion, but I have a couple of practical questions:

  • Where are we going to get adequate numbers of personnel of the quality required to implement the McChrystal method on the scale proposed by MG(R) Scales?
  • If the McChrystal-method units suck up the quality people they will need, what will be left to execute other special operations requirement?
