Matt Ehret: Halton Arp and the Fight for our Living Universe

Science

Is there reason to believe that the Big Bang which most scientists believe kick started the universe as we know it 13.7 billion years ago, may not be true?

In this Rising Tide Foundation lecture, I take the opportunity to introduce some competing alternatives to Big Bang Cosmology and standard model quantum mechanics which takes into account a broader spectrum of empirical data derived from the pioneering work of astronomer Halton Arp (1927-2013), and many other scientists whose names have been forgotten or obscured for purely political motives.

The question of the intersection of cellular biology, environmental science and galaxy formation is also investigated with a focus upon the nature of MIND and LIFE as principles organizing living space time.

White House Issues a “National” Science & Tech Agenda

Hat's off to Steve Aftergood for sharing with us the extraordinarily weak, biased, and ineffective national S&T guidance.

R&D today is corrupt because it is focused on increasing the transfer of wealth from the 99% to the 1%. In that sense, reducing existing R&D programs is the right thing to do.

What if…public libraries could anchor a platform cooperative?

Supporting the disrupted going forward….

We recently published our submission to the Libraries Taskforce consultation about its draft strategy – Libraries Deliver: An Ambition for Public Libraries in England 2016-21. Today, we want to say a bit more about our having called upon the Taskforce to explore the opportunities for public libraries that could flow from the growth of the ‘sharing economy’ and, in particular, moves to establish Platform Cooperatives.

An Open Letter to All European Ministers

Esteemed Ministers,

On 27 May the Competitiveness Council in Brussels announced a European decision to achieve Open Access to all scientific research data by 2020. This decision, and the implementing European framework programme for research and innovation Horizon 2020, will be recognized by future generations as the first serious step toward the creation of a prosperous world at peace. With this one decision Europe is turning away from centuries of war and waste; away from scientific reductionism, away from corporate ownership of public knowledge, away from legal barriers to innovation, and away from government neglect of the public interest.

All European scientific articles to be freely accessible by 2020

All scientific articles in Europe must be freely accessible as of 2020. EU member states want to achieve optimal reuse of research data. They are also looking into a European visa for foreign start-up founders.
