“I think when this is all over, people are going to say that Barack Obama is the first Jewish president,” says Abner Mikva, the former Chicago congressman, federal judge and White House counsel to President Bill Clinton. Pauline Dubkin Yearwood, “Obama and the Jews, The Chicago Jewish News, 24 October 2008, as reprinted in If Americans Knew.
City Limits exists to equip New York City residents to be better citizens and take a bigger role in shaping the future of the five boroughs. These online resources should help:
The FBI's facial recognition database of 411 million photos includes some 30 million criminal mugshots, drivers' license pictures from 16 US states, 140 million images from visa applications by foreign nationals and 6.7 million photos of individuals detained by US forces abroad, but lacks adequate safeguards for accuracy and privacy protection, a congressional audit shows. Alvaro Bedoya, who heads the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown University's law school, called the report “startling,” saying it revealed that facial recognition is being used on a much larger scale than had been disclosed.
I'm Ilya Krol, the RT editor. We are writing an article about gun law in the U.S. and renewed discussion on it after Orlando tragedy. Russian experts say the discussion on any changes in the law is nothing but populist game of the Democrats. They also say that in general the Orlando shooting is not related to the gun law question. It's not about gun availability at all but about intellegent service efficency. They state that U.S. intellegent services (FBI as well) undergo difficult institutional transformation from the service with military management to the one with the civil management. Another FBI problem is the vast bureaucracy. All these problems made the Orlando shooting and Boston marathon terroristic acts possible. To focus on the gun law here is just the attempt to avoid the discussion on the FBI failure in these cases. Could you please be so kind to approve or to say something against the above statements?
The vast majority of far-right groups making election waves in Europe are not merely extremist or unsavoury — they are staunch neo-Nazi groups, with explicit Nazi sympathies and affiliations. Many of the most prominent of these parties even have a direct Nazi heritage that remains little-understood.
. . .
Russia wants to accelerate the resurgence of this trans-Atlantic reconstructed-Nazi movement to weaken, if not fragment, the European Union, and ideally to undermine NATO with a view to strike a blow to US influence in Eurasia.
I have agreed to write a chapter on the anomalies identified by others (I have no direct knowledge). The below list of (now) 61 anomalies is a starting point. I seek inputs from anyone who wishes to point out omissions or corrections. The chapter will be completed by this coming Friday, with graphics and selected photographs all compellingly questioning the official narrative.
Access to water is one of the most fundamental and least discussed issues underpinning the Israeli – Palestinian conflict (as well as the recurring pattern of Israel’s conflicts with Syria and Lebanon). Control of the West Bank’s water resources is intimately tied into the growing pattern of the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and, if left unchecked, Israel’s inevitable annexation of Area C (60%) of the West Bank (thereby formalizing the Gazification of Areas A&B). Water resources are also intimately woven into pattern of destruction in Israel’s siege of the Gaza ghetto.
Most Americans remain unaware of water’s central importance in this conflict. Yet a fair and equitable solution to this issue is a necessary albeit not sufficient condition for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on terms that do not sow the seeds for future conflict.
