The Mirage of Justice: Of the 2.2 million people we have incarcerated at the moment—25 percent of the world’s prison population—2 million never had a trial.

Who Goes to Jail?: “It is much more grotesque to consider the non-enforcement of white-collar criminals when you do consider how incredibly aggressive law enforcement is with regard to everybody else”.

Goldman Sachs To Pay $5.1 Billion For Causing 2008 Financial Crisis: As of now, there appear to be no plans for any of the individual corporate executives at Goldman Sachs to face criminal sanctions for the crimes that led to this $5.1 billion settlement despite the Department of Justice’s promise that it would start holding corporate criminals accountable.

Owl: GMO Bio-War Against Chipotle?

Who? Who?
Who? Who?

This article's author, Mike Adams, admits to speculating, as he has no proof the GMO industry is sabotaging Chipotle, but I think it is very plausible speculation. The e. coli outbreaks entail a rare strain of e coli, which make this theory even more compelling.  For those who like connecting the dots, the Chipotle incidents, looked at as Adams has, is reminiscent of the odd deaths of multiple alternative medicine physicians in 2015. Another example: listeners of Gary Null's daily noon Internet show have had to suffer days of show blackouts for the last month. The blackout of the show usually ends as soon his hour is over. Very odd. Null is a nutritionist/activist who releases a large amounts of excellent information and analysis highly critical of the medical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries, plus the government.

Why do secretaries need college degrees now?

Despite the fact that only one-third of Americans have them, college degrees have become the new high school diplomas, the baseline everyone in the workforce is assumed to meet.

But it's important to remember why employers can get away with this: They have power, and workers don't. And as their power grows, they can engage in ever-more frivolous and gratuitous demands for job applicants.

I want to flag and discuss two articles.  The first, Saudi Royal calls for regime change in Riyadh, is a report in the Guardian by Hugh Miles.  He describes the four immediate factors that have stimulated the now famous letters by the anonymous 3rd generation prince calling for the replacement of King Salman and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman: (1) the double tragedy at Mecca that killed 800 people, (2) the collapse of oil prices, (3) the war in Yemen which, according to Miles, few Saudis support, and (4) King Salman's elevation of his young son, the inexperienced and impetuous Mohammed bin Salman to the peculiar but powerful post of Deputy Crown Prince, making him second in the line of succession.

Four times a year, the program's street team sifts through police records and its own intelligence to determine, with actuarial detachment, the 50 people in Richmond most likely to shoot someone and to be shot themselves. ONS tracks them and approaches the most lethal (and vulnerable) on the list, offering them a spot in a program that includes a stipend to turn their lives around.
