It is my view that there exist profoundly immoral and malevolent — the formal definition of evil — corporations. Their corporate vision creates profit by doing something that reduces wellness. Halliburton is one, Monsanto is another. One of the skills these corporations focus on is maintaining high level government connections, and to get your executives in senior positions. So great is the corruption of our government as a result that, as this report de! scribes, the regulatory agencies created to oversee these corporations are tailored to the corporation's wishes.

Monsanto Has Taken Over the USDA
DAVID SWANSON – Nation of Change

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been taken over by an outside organization. RootsAction has launched a campaign demanding a Congressional investigation.

The organization is called Monsanto.

This is one of the central failures of American corporate vampire capitalism. Because it only considers profit as a priority, polluting the water of a nation and putting the full spectrum of life at risk is no big deal, and they want to be allowed to continue it.

Top Agribusiness Food Companies Dumping Waste in Our Waters
ELIZABETH RENTER – Natural Society/Nation of Change

Companies like Tyson Foods, Cargill, Inc., and Perdue Farms Inc. dump their garbage-more than 206 million pounds of it-into our water almost every year and leave others to worry about the clean-up. Now, as the Environmental Protection Agency considers a rule to restore the Clean Water Act, these companies are pulling out all the stops to maintain their freedom to dump and pollute, regardless of the toxic outcomes.

SchwartzReport: Economics of Action Now on Climate Change = 40% Savings

This is why what Senator Inhofe did was so very wrong. An entire country, indeed the world, will pay in suffering and coin, because a tiny group of corrupted politicians, of which he is an American leader, blocked any preparation or remediation.

Delay Action on Climate Change by 10 Years and Costs Rocket 40%: Report
MAYA RHODAN – Time

The longer the U.S. holds off action to mitigate climate change, the more costly the effort will become, a new report shows

A new report estimates the cost of mitigating the effects of climate change could rise by as much as 40% if action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is delayed 10 years – immediately outweighing any potential savings of a delay.

The White House’s Council of Economic Advisers, U.S. President Barack Obama’s source for advice on economic policy, compared over 100 actions on climate change laid out in 16 studies to extract the average cost of delayed efforts. Released Tuesday, the findings suggests policymakers should immediately confront carbon emissions as a form of ‘climate insurance.”

SchwartzReport: One Fracking Well Linked to 200+ Earthquakes

Although the Congress and the Obama Administration think Fracking is just the thing, the evidence for the wrongness of this policy just keeps piling up. One learns in school that the purpose of the government is to be responsive to its people, and provide for their safety and wellbeing. But that of cou! rse we know is just a fantasy of academics. Your house has been brought down by an earthquake? Terribly sorry, the government says, but our corporate masters' profits are too important for us to stop them.

University of Colorado Boulder Scientists Link 10,800-Foot-Deep Fracking Wastewater Well to More than 200 Earthquakes
BRANDON BAKER – Ecowatch/Nation of Change

When the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission ordered NGL Water Solutions to stop fracking wastewater injection operations a month ago, a team of University of Colorado Boulder researchers began conducting its own investigation.

NGL, formerly known as High Sierra Water Services, was given permission to resume its activities at a 10,800-foot-deep well a few weeks later, but the CU findings suggest that shouldn’t have happened. Anne Sheehan and her team found that the well is linked to more than 200 earthquakes, the geophysics professor in the CU Department of Geological Sciences told Boulder County Business Report.

Village in a Box: Open Source Ecology Project Uses 3D Printers to Build The Next Economy

by

3dprint.com, July 24, 2014

…the folks at the Open Source Ecology project say you only need about 50 machines such as a wind turbine, cement mixer and sawmill to get things going. And they should know since they are currently building and creating open source industrial machines and sharing the designs online without cost.

Robert Steele: WIRED on London’s Amoral Tech Elite

Commerce, Ethics, IO Impotency

I completely endorse this view, never mind that the author cites me as one of three who maintain the public will no longer stand for global inequality. I have long said that we in the USA have erred in substituting technology for thinking, and I have long felt that the intelligence profession has lost touch with ethics, humanity, and purpose. Open Source Everything (OSE) is about transparency, truth, and trust — not to be found among most technologists, none of whom have a clue what “true cost economics” actually means. Kudos to WIRED for nailing the naked tech Emperor to the wall by his foreskin.

London's ‘amoral' tech elite is driving inequality

London's tech elite resides uncomfortably among some of the poorest neighbourhoods in the UK. Technology is inherently political, whether we are looking at privacy issues, convoluted tax arrangements or immigration exemptions, but many entrepreneurs on both sides of the Atlantic seem to operate in an amoral space, where optimisation, investment and exit strategies trump humility, equality and — according to campaigner and journalist Kirsty Styles — even right and wrong.

The Future of Warfare: Small, Many, Smart vs. Few & Exquisite?

EXTRACT

To illustrate how small, many, and smart are emerging as major shifts in warfare, this article will start by examining why it is now possible to create small, smart, and cheap platforms that have sufficient range and combat capability to fulfill the very challenging role of power projection. It will then examine the implications for U.S. defense.
