Here is the latest on the LENR technologies. I continue to believe something solid is going to come out of this work.

The Peak Oil Crisis: Cold Fusion Update
TOM WHIPPLE – Falls Church News-Press

There are at least four contenders in the race to bring a cold-fusion powered heat-producing device to market in the near future. These are the Rossi E-cat project now based in North Carolina under the aegis of a new firm called Industrial Heat; the Brillouin and SRI effort to develop a nuclear reaction boiler out in California; the Defkalion Green Technology’s effort in Vancouver and Greece to market a heat producing device later this year; and finally BlackLight Power’s radically different ‘hydrino” technology which, if it proves to work at a commercial scale, could trump all the rest.

Berto Jongman: Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) — Useful Failures

Never mind the 4% completion rate, still a useful starting point.

Take college and university courses online completely free

In recent years massive open online courses (MOOCs) have become a trend in online education. The term was coined in 2008 by David Cormier, manager of web communications and innovations at the University of Prince Edward Island. The first MOOC was created the previous year, at Utah State University.

MOOCs are designed like college courses but are available to anyone anywhere in the world, at no cost. You do not receive a college credit, but you will receive a certificate of completion when you complete all coursework. The courses span dozens of subjects and are taught by some of the leaders in those fields. The courses are designed to be interesting, fun and rigorous; the courses are not just in science, and not just in English.

SchwartzReport: ‘Revolutionary’ Advanced Battery Leaps Theoretical Maximum Boundary

Battery technology may not seem like a very glamorous sector of science but is critical to developments in a hundred areas from mobile phones to cars and buses. Here is some interesting new research.

‘Revolutionary’ Advanced Battery Leaps Theoretical Maximum Boundary
TINA CASEY – Clean Technica/The Raw Story

Just when you thought you knew everything about the theoretical maximum capacity of batteries, along comes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory to throw you for a loop. A team of researchers at ORNL has developed a pathway for ‘unprecedented energy density” in a battery that has already demonstrated a 26 percent increase over its theoretical maximum.

. . . . . . .

However, according to ORNL the discovery could stretch single use battery life by ‘years or even decades.” That has significant implications for medical devices, remote sensors and keyless systems, and other applications where recharging is not an ideal solution.

Cornering the Gold Market: China Close to Buying Half of World Gold Production

In 2013, China bought 1,132 tonnes of the precious metal, making it the biggest buyer of gold in the world. According to the World Gold Council, demand for gold bullion in China will increase by 20% by 2017 to 1,350 tonnes annually. (Source: World Gold Council, April 15, 2014.)

Saudi Petro-Dollar Rejection and The Arrival Of Eastern Gold-Backed Currencies – Jim Willie CB

Systemic failure and its pathogenesis have been over 50 years in progress, with countless events. The origin is found with the cabal murder Kennedy, but the climax finale will be found with the Saudi Petro-Dollar rejection and the arrival of Eastern gold-backed currencies.

How social media gives new voice to Brazil's protests

Street protests continue to rock Brazil and, frustrated by mainstream media coverage, a new group of citizen journalists is using digital tools to tell a different side of the story

EXTRACT

But the battles are not just being waged on the street. Angered by what they see as a misrepresentation of the issues by traditional media, new independent media collectives and networks have emerged over the past year. Armed with smartphones, digital cameras, and apps such as Twitcasting and Twitcam that allow them to broadcast live online, they are presenting their own version of events. Some of them are reaching a huge audience across the country and are now looking to expand their reach internationally.

One such group is the Mídia Ninja, a self-styled loose collective of citizen journalists, which first emerged during last summer's protests. They are keen to present an alternative narrative to the mainstream media by reporting live from the frontline.

Paedophiles to be treated as terrorists under new crackdown

PM moves to close loophole that allows sexual predators to produce and possess ‘manuals' to help them commit crimes

Paedophiles will be handed the same treatment as terrorists under a crackdown on child abuse to be included in the Queen's speech.

David Cameron said he wanted to close a loophole that allows sexual predators to produce and possess “manuals” giving tips on how to identify victims, groom them, and evade capture.

In future, they will face the same kind of sanctions as extremists who download guides to bomb-making.

The issue came to light after GCHQ and the National Crime Agency found online examples of the guides in the chaotic part of cyberspace known as the “dark web”.
