My name is Sebastián Sepúlveda a Spanish language and Literature teacher from Universidad de Chile, Santiago.

When I finished the four-year Literature degree, I started pedagogy studies while working in a secondary school. After obtaining my teacher credential, I continued working as a school teacher. I also started post-graduate studies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Here, I began to improve my teaching ability using drama and acting techniques.

In the next three years, I had a regular job as a teacher in a private school. At the same time I attended literature workshops, enrolling in English courses which left little time for sports, to swim and my big passion, cycling! At the end of 2013, after tasting the routine, the ups and downs of a teacher's life, I started to feel a little bit trapped by the system. It seemed to be overrun by the power of the unmovable structures. They don't help the kids, instead stifling their growth, their minds, their futures. We need to change the system, but how? In the meantime, I've decided that it was time to learn about life. Nowadays I am travelling on bicycle around South America, trying to learn those things that academia cannot teach. Right now I am also contributing to a project entitled, HANDS AROUND SOUTH AMERICA.

The OSE Manifesto is being translated into Chinese, French, and Spanish. Here is the first chapter in Spanish.

Capítulo 1: “Ábrete Sésamo”

Translated by Sebastian Sepulveda

Wikipedia’s open content production platform creates significant spillover benefits that encourage users to contribute further.

Many organisations are developing open platforms to create, store and share knowledge. Aleksi Aaltonen and Stephan Seiler analyse editing data by Wikipedia users to show how content creation by individuals generates significant ‘spillover’ benefits, encouraging others to contribute to the collective process of knowledge production.

Can local manufacturing compete with automobile mass production? It seems that yes, it can. The technology will improve as time goes on and you can't beat the price…

3-D Printed Car: NY Daily News Autos gets a ride in the Local Motors “Strati” 3-D printed roadster

The world’s first 3-D printed car is now a reality, and the Daily News Autos got to ride in the car of the future on the streets of Brooklyn, New York. Engineered and built by Phoenix-based Local Motors, the 2-passenger roadster, called the “Strati,” can be printed in 44 hours and has a top speed of approximately 50 mph.

“This is about simplification and streamlining,” explains Jay Rogers, co-founder and CEO of Local Motors. Rogers was present to give us a tour of the Strati and explain, exactly, 3-D printing tech brings to the automotive world. “All this material you’re looking at,” he says, pointing to the car, “is about $3,500 dollars.”

. . . . . . .

Granted, it’s not pretty, but the prototypes ridged edges can be smoothed over with human-powered grinding and sanding. Paint can also be applied to the body-work, though this negates the Strati’s near 100-percent recyclability.

Open Source CRM Pulls in Open Source Search

I read “12 Open Source CRM Options.” I think of CRM as a synonym for customer experience or CRM as an easy way to suck down a top salesperson’s contact list when he or she heads to greener pastures. I know. I am shortsighted.

The write up surprised me because I did not know there were a dozen open source CRM solutions, components, or widgets. I assumed there were the big buck systems from Oracle and Salesforce.com. I was uninformed.

I had heard of SugarCRM because one of the proprietary search vendors supports the system. I had not heard of:

Vtiger (a variant of SugarCRM), SuiteCRM, Fat Free CRM, Odoo, Zurmo, EspoCRM, SplendidCRM, OpenCRX, X2Engfine, Concourse Suite, or CentraView.
